As the holiday season nears its peak, many people are planning to host gatherings with friends and family. This has many in pursuit of the best Christmas cocktails. Whether wanting to learn how to make the perfect mimosa or find something innovative to wow guests, here are our favorite Christmas drinks.
Christmas Sangria
The perfect sangria recipe has been found with this Christmas sangria that brings together cranberries and limes for a festive kick. Simply cook water and cranberries over medium heat in a small pan until the berries pop. Drain the liquid and set aside the berries. Then combine a bottle of white wine and ¾ a cup of limeade concentrate in a pitcher. Stir in 1 liter of citrus soda, the cranberries, and a medium orange that has been peeled for the perfect sangria recipe. Sangria would be served perfectly in our Magnum Glass.
Mulled Wine
If you are wanting a drink to keep guests warm during the coldest of winter days, mulled wine is a great one to go with. Using a large saucepan, bring to a boil 1 bottle of red wine, 1 cup of brandy, 1 cup sugar, 1 sliced medium orange, 1 sliced medium lemon, and 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg. Simmer for 20 minutes and refrigerate overnight. Meanwhile, use cheesecloth to make a spice bag of 2 cinnamon sticks, ½ teaspoon allspice, ½ teaspoon peppercorns, and 3 cloves. Add this to the refrigerated mixture. The next day, strain this mixture into a large saucepan while discarding the fruit and spice bag. Serve in a beautiful Jeroboam class.
Hot Buttered Rum
One of our favorite Christmas drinks is hot buttered rum. This is something that will really keep you warm while giving you a delicious taste. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup butter, ½ cup confectioner’s sugar, and ½ cup packed brown sugar until it is light and fluffy. This should take about six minutes. Next, beat in 2 cups of softened vanilla ice cream, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon of nutmeg. When serving, place ½ cup of this mixture in a mug, and add ½ cup of boiling water and 3 tablespoons of rum.
Cranberry Orange Mimosa
For a holiday take on the popular brunch drink, place 2 cups of fresh cranberries and 1 cup of orange juice in a blender. Puree before adding 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and another 2 cups of orange juice. Then blend some more. The next step in how to make a mimosa is to pour 1/3 cup of this mixture into a Demi wine glass and top it off with champagne. Your guests will love the cranberry kick to this classic.
